<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following resolution was adopted,

<br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTIIORIZING THE CITY i,;~NAGER TO SELL CITY OI~2~ED PROPERTY TO
<br /> THE PORTSMOUTH PARKING AUTtlORITY.
<br />
<br /> IfHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth desires to sell property acquired by the City adjoining
<br />a parcel owned by the Portsmouth Parking Authority; and
<br />
<br /> W~EREAS, the City of Portsmouth has no need for the land; and
<br />
<br /> $~ERBAS, the Portsmouth Parking Authority desires this land to be incorporated into
<br />an adjoining parcel o~med by the Portsmouth Parking Authority.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City Manager be and he hereby is authorized to execute a deed to sell said land
<br />to the Portsmouth Parking Authority described as follows:

<br /> An "L': shaped parcel of land at the eastern end of the Portsmouth Public
<br /> 'Library lot; which lot is situated at the southeast corner of Court Street
<br /> and King Street, in Portsmouth, Virginia. The '*L" shaped parcel is bounded
<br /> and described as follows:
<br />
<br /> Beginning at a point on the soUthern boundary of the above identified
<br />lot, which point is 92.93 feet, N 3° 36' 20" W from the north side of
<br />County Street, and 15.87 feet, S 87° 17' W from the southeast corner of
<br />t~e above identified lot. This is the TRUE PCINT OF BEGINNING; thence
<br />N 3°36' 20': W, 96.20 f~et to a point; thence N 46~ 22' 25" E 7.90 feet
<br />to a point; thence S 3~ 38'-~ 62,$8 feet to a point; thence N 87° 17'
<br />E 10.O0 feet to a point; the~de ~ ~0 30' E 38.5 feet to the south-
<br />east corner of the Portsmouth Public Library Lot; thence S 87° 17' W 15.87
<br />feet to the point of beginning. Said parcel containing 973.2 square feet.
<br />As shown on that certain plat entitled "Topographical & Boundary Line
<br />Survey of Property O~med By Portsmouth Parking Authority, Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia," drawn by Hassell ~ Foikes, Surveyors & Engineers, Portsmouth
<br />Virginia, dated October 10, 1972, and attached hereto and expressly made
<br />a part hereof.'~

<br /> 72-507 - '~I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This authorizes
<br />the transfer of City property to the Portsmouth School Board.

<br /> To the rear of the site for the new fire station at Portsmouth Boulevard and Elm Avenue
<br />there is a lot which belongs to the School Board which is a part of the Brighton Elementary
<br />School grounds. The City desires this lot for use with the fire station. A lot has been
<br />acquired on the eastern edge of the school property by the City and the purpose of this reso
<br />tion is to allow the exchange of the two parcels.~

<br />.A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SELL CITY OInkED PROPERTY
<br />TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF ~ORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the School Board of the City of Portsmouth agreed to and did convey a certain
<br />portion of the Brighton Elementary School site to the City of Portsmouth, provided that the
<br />City would convey to the School Board certain property located on Argyle Street; and
<br />
<br />~EREAS, the City of Portsmouth has no need for the land.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a deed to sell to the School Board of the
<br />City of Portsmouth the following described property:
<br />
<br /> All those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land situate in the City;
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, known, numbered and designated as Lots 10, 12 and
<br />14 as sho%~m on the plan of Brighton recorded in the Clerk's Office of
<br />the Circuit Court of Chesapeake, Virginia."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mr. Johnson, a rgpp~t from the City Attorney of
<br />how we can implement what has been discussed regarding property owned by the School Board
<br />to be transferred to the City of Portsmouth, was adopted by unanimous vote.

<br /> 72-508 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This.authorizes
<br />the City Manager to enter into joint projects with other political subdivisions when they
<br />are completely funded by State. or Federal funds.
