<br />to elude Council and no further formal action is forthcoming."

<br />the matter to the Recreation Commission for review and Council be adwised as to recreation
<br />plans in the Churcland arear.~d Mrs. Ha~ood be advised, was adopted by unanimous vote.

<br /> 73-58 The following letter received from John L. Ivy, Chairman Recreation and Parks
<br />Commission, was read: '

<br /> ,A sub-'committee £rom the Recreation and Parks Commission has recently been in contact
<br />with Mr. A. P. McLean concerning the possible donatisn of the Cavalier Manor Swimming Pool
<br />and the Cavalier Manor Recreation Center to the City of Portsmouth for recreational use.
<br />
<br /> After investigating this offer thoroughly, the committee, chaired by Mr. Nicholas J.
<br />Brown, recommended that t~e city accept those properties and implement plans for operation
<br />including the authorization of a budget to operate a swimming program during this coming
<br />summer.
<br />
<br /> Inasmuch as this action required Council approval, the Commission voted unanimously
<br />to forward the recommendation to you for your consideration.'

<br /> Jr. for Smith Brothers, Inc., with the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad
<br /> Company, W. C. & Madeline E. Osborne and Doctor's Court, Inc. & Dr. Neal
<br /> P. Davis and Dr. William S. Debnam concuring.

<br /> This is a paper street and would be closed, subject only to retention of necessary
<br />drainage and utility easements. The area of High Street recommended for closure is des-
<br />cribed as follows:

<br />"All that certain parcel or tract of land, located in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />being triangular in shape and being shown on a plat of Livingston Land Company,
<br />recorded in Map Book 5, Page 43, in the Clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the
<br />City of Chesapeake, and on said plat being bounded on the north and west by the
<br />then Atlantic Coastline Railway, new the Seaboard Coastline Railway; on the norhth
<br />and east by a line designated N. ~8o W.; and on the south by all or portions of
<br />Lots 9, I1, 13, 15, 17, 19~ and 21, in Block 135 of the Plat of Livingston Land
<br />Company, and designated therein as a portion of High Street, which said portion of
<br />High Street was at a later time renamed Louisa Terrace, and which said parcel of land
<br />is at the present time, bounded as follows:

<br />On the north and west by the right of way of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Company;
<br />on the north and east by the lands of Smith Brothers, Incorporated, and 6n the south
