<br /> This is approximately eight acres south of the railroad tracks and west of the Armory
<br />The land wilt be sold for the construction of a laundry to serve the hospitals in the
<br />area. The funds will be returned to the City by the Industrial Authority when the land
<br />is sold."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following resolution was
<br />adopted, and by the following vote:
<br />
<br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY
<br />IN THE HATTONSVILLE AREA OF THE CITY TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY,
<br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ~NAGER TO EXECUTE A DEED OP CONVEYANCE FOR THE
<br />SAME.
<br />
<br /> ~HEREAS, the City of Portsmouth currently owns a certain parcel of land located
<br />as hereinafter described; and
<br />
<br /> I~EREAS, said land is no longer needed for the public use of the City of Portsmouth
<br />and it is, therefore, declared to be surplus property; and
<br />
<br /> ~dEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority of the City requires such land to
<br />further its aims and purposes of encouraging industrial development within the City and
<br />has offered the City a consideration of $S,000.00 per acre.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the following described parcel of land is hereby declared surplus and that the same
<br />be conveyed to the Industrial Development Authority of the City for a consideration of
<br />$S,000.0O per acre, such parcel of land being more particularly described as follows:

<br /> All that certain tract, piece or parcel of land, with the appurtenances.thereunto
<br />belonging, .situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, more particularly
<br />bounded and described as follows-, to-wit: BEGINNING at the point of intersection of
<br />the Southern right-of-way line of Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Company and the Eastern
<br />right-of-way line of Elmhurst Lane Extended, as is shown on a certain plat entitled:
<br />"Proposed Prqperty Acquisition for Extension of Elmhurst Lane from George T. McLean Co.,
<br />Inc.", dated March 20, 1973, made by Department of ERgineering of the City of Portsmouth;
<br />thence from Said point of beginning running North S7~ East 410.35 feet, more or less,
<br />to the Northwestern corner of the property now or formerly owned by Harry L. Boone, Sr.,
<br />said point being established by a boundary line agreement between the City of Portsmouth
<br />and Harry L. Boone, Sr., and wife, of record in the Clerk's Office of the Court bf Husting:
<br />fo~ the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ in Deed Book S70, at page 569; thence running South
<br />S5~ S2' East 460.8 feet to a point in the Northern bOUndary line of the property now
<br />or formerly owned by Terminal arehouse Corporation, sa~d point being on the Southern
<br />right-of-way line of Rowley Street; thence running South S?~ West 105.67 feet to the
<br />North west corner of the property now or formerly o~med by Terminal Warehouse Corp.;
<br />thence running along the Western boundary line of the said Terminal Warehouse Corp.,
<br />South 32~ Si' 54" East 353.15 feet, more or less, to the Northern right-of-way line of
<br />said Blmhurst Lane Extended, as shown on the aforementioned Plat; thence running Northwest,
<br />along the right-of-way line of said Elmhurst Lane as shown on-said Plat along the arc
<br />of a curve having a radius of,755.15 feet a distance of 493.09 feet to the point of inter~
<br />section with the Eastern boundary line of property now or formerly owned by George T.
<br />Mclean Company, Incorporated; thence leaving the said right-of-Way and running North
<br />46 45' West along the George T. McLean Company, Incorporated, Eastern boundary line
<br />a distance of 454.06 feet to a point intersected by the Eastern boundary line of said
<br />Blmhurst Lane as shown on the Plat aforementioned; thence continuing along the Eastern
<br />boundary line of said Elmhurst Lane in a Northerly direction along the arc' of a spiral
<br />a distance of 55.69 feet to the point of beginning.

<br /> The aforedescribed tract of land being a part of the said property conveyed to the
<br />City of Portsmouth by deed of Tarfa Corporation, dated March 28, 1962, of record in the
<br />Clerk's Office of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Deed
<br />Book 381, at page 571, and by condemnation proceedings filed in the Court of Hustings
<br />for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in the case styled City of Portsmouth v. Bessie
<br />D. Williams, et al., the report of said Commissioner andiOrder confirming said report
<br />being duly of record in the Clerk's Office aforementioned in Deed Book 472, at pages
<br />549 and 353, respectively.

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that theCity Manager be, andi~hehereby is authorized to
<br />execute a deed of conveyance for same."

<br />a revised Cooperation Agreement between the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority
<br />and the City of Portsmouth. I recommend that the proper City officials be authorized
<br />~o sign. These are financial amendments to the Crawford Urban Renewal Project Va. R-
<br />S5.
