This amends the City Code pertaining to voting precincts by abolishing Precinct <br />#3 and combining it with Precinct #1. This also designates Monumental United Methodist <br />Church as the voting place. <br /> <br />This has been recommended by the Electoral Board." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was approved <br />on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, <br />BY REPEALING SECTIONS 57.1-4 and 37.1-41 THEREOF AND BY AMENDING SECTIONS <br />57.1-2 AND 37.1-39 THEREOF; SO AS TO ABOLISH PRECINCT NO.3 A~CO THE VOTING <br />PLACE THEREIN, COMBINE PRECINCT NO. 3 WITH PRECINCT NO.t, AND TO RELDESIGNATE <br />A VOTING PLACE FOR THE COMBINED PRECINCT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 75-189 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first readin <br />This closes a portion of Axson Street between Kennedy Drive and Partridge Street. <br /> <br /> A. It <br />has been approved by the Planning Commission and a report of the viewers is attached <br />hereto." <br /> <br />ing Mr. Gus Jones, property owner: <br /> <br /> "At the Council meeting to be held on May 22, 19.73, you will be considering an <br />ordinance on first reading for the closing of a portion of Axson Street in Cradock. We <br />have been retained to represent Mr. Gus Jones, a property¢owner in the neighborhood where <br />the proposed street closing is located, and we would like to appear before the Couacil <br />on behalf of our client in dpposition to the closing of Axson Street." <br /> <br />Mr. Jones spoke against the cles$ng. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Holley, rules to be suspended to hear <br />Mr. John Carter, was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mr. Carter spoke for closing. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Early, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDIN~uNCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF AXSON STREET BETWEEN KENNEDY DRIVE AND <br />PARTRIDGE STREET (FORM~ERLY PORTER ROAD) <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: Holley .... <br /> <br /> 75-190 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first readin <br />This appropriates $675,605 in the Federal Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. These funds <br />are the first payment on Entitlement Period 3 which covers January 1, 1975 through <br />June 50, 1973. This quarterly payment, received in April, 1973, is our entitlement <br />from January 1, 1973 through March 31, 1973. <br /> <br />A Planned Use Report will be submitted for your approval at the next scheduled <br /> <br /> <br />
