Carter on behalf of the Ambassador Club to declare <br />surplus ~he following parcels of municipal land: <br /> <br />Parcels No. 23, 26, ~d 29, being on the Northerly side of <br />London Boulevard as shown on City Assessor's Map =58, s copy <br />of which is attached hereto. <br /> <br /> These are ~emnants of property acquired for London Boulevard. The Planning Commissi. <br />recommends that the property be declared surplus and sold to public a~ction.- <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Wentz, and seconded by Mr. Holley, to be referred ~o a conference, <br />was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 73-243 T~e following letter received from Ms. Inez D. Baker, President, Federation <br />of Civic Clubs, was read: <br /> <br /> "Below you will find a resolution adopted by the Federation of Civic Clubs, March <br />26, 1973, Your careful study and consideration of our proposal will be greatly appreci- <br />ated. <br /> <br />Whereas, the country is experiencing great loss in lives and property; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the average law-abiding c~tizen is no longer safe on the streets or secure <br />in his own home; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, permissive judges seem to protect the offender rather than the offended; <br />and <br /> <br /> Whereas, concerned citizens are justificably disturbed about these conditions and <br />warm them changed; now therefore be it <br /> <br /> Resolved by the Federation of Civic Clubs of POrtsmouth, Virginia that this <br />organization and its members be encouraged to write letters to representative Congressman <br />and Senators in support of President Nizon's firm crime proposal, and be it <br /> <br /> Further resolved that state legislators and municipal authorities be requested to <br />use their every resource to also supporn the President's crime plan and t~ implement <br />legislation at the state and local levels similar to~t~a~!?~{ the federal.' <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the matter ~o be referred to the <br />City Manager for proper handling, was adopted by unanimous <br /> <br /> 73-244 The following letter received from Ms. Ruth Parker, 1135 Mt. Vernon Avenue, <br />was read: <br /> <br /> "the undersigned residen~ of the Mount Hermon sectinn of Portsmouth request that the- <br />be placed on the agenda af the June 12th 1973 meeting of Council to respond to agenda <br />item ?3-200 which was accepted for information by Council at the May 22nd 1973 meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. George Walker will represent and speak for us on this matter at the June 12th <br />meeting."
