On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr, King, the following resolution was adopte. <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS POR CLOSING A PORTION OF W~T ROAD ADJACENT <br />TO MAR~iIEW HOSPITAL. <br /> <br /> %%~EREAS, Maryview Hospital has made application to vacate and close the hereinafter <br />described portion of a certain street and it appearing that notice of the application <br />and request for the appointment of viewers was duly posted on May 1t, 1973, on the bullet <br />board of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of <br />the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, and on the bulletin board of the Municipal <br />Court, Civil Division, of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Frank N. Biiisoly, James V. McGehee, Raymond Tweed, Zalmon I. Blachman and R. Irvine <br />Smith, be appointed viewers to view the hereinafter described portion of such street <br />and report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what <br />inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the following: <br /> <br /> That portion of West Road which is described as follows, to-wit: <br />GINNING at a point on the Eastern right of way line of West Road at <br />the Northeastern corner of a portion of said West Road which has been <br />previously closed by ordinance of the City Council as said road adjoins <br />Maryview Hospital; thence from said point of beginning running North <br />41~14'26~' West 124.31 feet to a point on the West right of way line <br />of said West Road; thence running Southerly along the arc of a curve to <br />the right, said curve having a radius of 243.26 feet a distance of 82.94 <br />feet to a point (said last bearing and distance call being on the Western <br />right of way line of West Road); thence running South 82o06'37" East <br />80 feet to the said point of beginning; and also closed was a portion <br />ef any cul de sac turn around lying South or West of the first mentioned <br />bearing call hereinabove indicated." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 73-230 "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This appoint <br />5 viewers for the closing of a portion of Bluegill Avenue between Waldron Avenue and <br />Greenwood Drive. This has been requested by Mr. ~ Mrs. A. J. Stewart and Mr. ~ Mrs. <br />John W. J. Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. John W. Sedberry have made <br />application to vacate and close the hereinafter described portion of a certain street <br />and it appearing that notice of the application and request for the appointment of viewer <br />was duly posted on May 25, 1973, on the bulletin board of the Court of Hustings for <br />the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmo <br />and on the bulletin board of the Municipal Court, Civil Division, of the City of Portsmou <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Frank N. Irvine <br />Smith, be appointed viewers to view the hereinafter described portion of such street <br />and report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what <br />inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the following: <br /> <br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and being that portion of Bluegill <br />Avenue, formerly First Street, located between the southern right <br />of way line of Waldron Avenue and the northern right of way line <br />of Greenwood Drive, which street is approximately 20 feet wide and <br />217 feet long and is in an uniMproyed condition." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, tgentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 73-231 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This adopts <br />the Plan Use Report for the General Revenue Sharing allocation under Entitlement 3. <br />The attached Plan Use Report shows the plan expenditure of the $1,351,211 to be received <br />by the City for the period January i, 1973 through June 30, 1973. <br /> <br /> It is recommended that $388,743 be spent for operation and maintenance of existing <br />services in our general operating budget, and $962,468 for capital expenditures from <br />the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. In the capital expenditure area, $250,000 will be used <br />for retirement of debt, $75,000 for equipment in the public safety category, and the <br />remaining $637,468 shall be spent for drainage, curbs and gutters, and streets and highwa <br /> <br /> The adoption of the Plan Use Report is required by the U. S. Treasury guidelines, <br />and a copy of this report must be filed with the U. S. Treasury Department no later <br />than June 20, 1973, and at the same time advise the news media of the publication of <br />this report." <br /> <br /> <br />
