<br /> Pursuant to Council Gag Rules 2-15.1 and 2-24 it is requested that my name be
<br />placed on'the subject agenda to address the issue of the Department of Public Safety
<br />as it effects the safety and security of the personnel of the P61ice and Fire Divisions
<br />and, as must invariably follow, that of the citizens of Portsmouth,"

<br /> 73-298 - Mr. Burrell Johnson presented information concerning the establishment of
<br />a Public Safety Commission; stated he would request City Attorney to prepare ordinance
<br />to establish this Commission. (No action taken)

<br />73-299 - The following ~etter received from Director of Planning, was read:

<br /> "At its regular monthly meeting July S, 1973, the City Planning Commission again
<br />considered a preliminary subdivision titi~R "Southampton Pha~e ITM. One of it§ proposed
<br />new streets involves extension of a paper street designated as Riverside Lane. This
<br />paper street is but a stub; it extends off Rivershore Road. Subdivision Ordinance stipu-
<br />lates that a developer in a subdivision plat must extend an existing street name. Already
<br />we have Riverside Drive in Wateview, and a duplicate would create many problems. The de-
<br />veloper would like to designate his new street, Broadleaf Lane, a~d he found that this
<br />
