152 WHEREAS, the Authority and the City of Portsmouth have approved Amendment No. 1 to the Conservation Plan for the Park View Conservation Project which redesignates said document to "Park View Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Park View Cen- servation and Redevelopment Project, Va. R-48~'; and WHEREAS, said Amendment No. 1 requires adjustments in certain improvements previousl proposed to be undertaken by the City of Portsmouth in conjunction with said Project as outlined in the document entitled, "Revision No. 1 to the Cooperation Agreement, Park View Conservation Project, Va. R-48,'~ approved on January 9, 1973; and WHEREAS, a revised Cooperation Agreement for the said project has been prepared which adjusts the obligations of the City to coincide with said Amendment No. 1, which revision has been carefully reviewed at this meeting; and WHEREAS, the City Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imnosed in the undertaking and carrying out of urban renewal projects with Federal financial assistance under Title I, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, color, creed, or national origin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth: 1. That all and singular terms of a certain agreement entitled "Revision No. 2 to the Cooperation Agreement for the Park View Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Va. R-48" between the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority and the City of Portsmouth dated October 23, 1973, a copy of which is attached hereto, be and the same hereby are approved. 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the aforemen~ tinned cooperation agreement on behalf of the City of Portsmouth, and the City Clerk to duly attest and attach the seal of said City." Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes Nays: None 73-455 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. This amends the City Code pertaining to the rate of fare that taxicabs cam~ hha~g~. This establishes a new rate of 60¢ for the first 1/5 mile or fraction thereof. The present rate is 50¢ for the first 1/2 mile or fraction thereof. This will make the taxicab fare the same as in the surrounding localities." On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO A~END THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTION 34-9 THEREOF PERTAINING TO RATES OF FARE CHARGEABLE BY TAXICAB DRIVERS."
