<br />"The Code of Virginia requires the State Compensation Board to establish
<br />for individuals who serve primarily as Correctional Officers and devote
<br />of their time to perform Correctional Officer duties. These officers
<br />requirements established by the Law Enforcement Officers Training Standards

<br /> The City has 13 additional Correctional Officers who have met these requirements
<br />and their salaries are to be increased to $6,720 annually. It is recommended that
<br />the City Council concur in the annual rate of $6,720 for these individuals, effective
<br />March 1, 1974. The Compensation Board has requested that the City Council certify
<br />that the individuals named on the attached list serve primarily as Correctional Officers
<br />more than 50% of their time. These individuals have full-time Correctional Officer
<br />duties."

<br /> Motion:of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Holley, to concur in the recommendation
<br />of the City Manager, was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br /> 74-117 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first
<br />reading. This appropriates $16,205.95 from the Federal Revenue Sharing Trust Fund
<br />in the category of equipment for general and multi-purpose use.
<br />
<br /> The above funds represent the interest earned on Entitlement IV during the month
<br />of February, 1974. Under the guidelines for Federal Revenue Sharing, interest earned
<br />on Revenue Sharing Funds must be spent under the same guidelines as the original funds.
<br />The above appropriation is an allowable category under the RDvenue Sharing guidelines."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. King, the following~ordinance was

<br />TRUST FUND AND TO ALLOCATE SAID FUNDS IN THE CATEGORY OF CAPITAL
<br />FOR MULTI-PURPOSE USE."

<br /> 74-119 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first
<br />reading. This appropriates $10,000 from the General Fund for the final payments on
<br />the contract for printing and updating the City Charter and City Code of Ordinances.
<br />
<br /> This contract was originally appropriated in full during the 1972-75 budget in
<br />the General Fund; however, due to the time required for updating and printing, the
<br />final billing has just recently been received. This additional appropriation for the
<br />balance of the contract is required since the balance of the old appropriation expired
<br />on June 50, 1975."
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. King, the following ordinance was
<br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO ~PPROPRIATE $10,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE FINAL
<br />PAYMENT OF THE'COST OF PUBLICATION OF THE NEW CITY CODE."

<br /> 74-120 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first
<br />reading. This amends Section 19 (Salaries for Unclassified Positions) of the Classificati
<br />and Pay Plan of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia as pertains to the City Manager.
<br />The salary for the incoming City Manager was set at $55,000 and the pay ordinance is
<br />being amended to reflect the change."
