This appropriates $10Z,46S from the General Capital Improvement Fund for <br />improvements to Harris Road and Alton Parkway. Some time ago, bids were requested <br />for curb, gutters and street improvements on Harris Road and Alton Parkway and no <br />bids were received for this project. At present, we have a contract with Portsmouth <br />Paving Corporation for the same type of work in a nearby area. We have negotiated <br />with this contractor to install curbs and gutters and street improvements in the <br />Cradock area as a change order to his present contract at the same unit prices. <br /> <br /> The work to be accomplished will add $.89,100 to the present contract, and engineerin <br />and inspection costs bring the total cost of the project to $102,465. It is requested <br />that the City Manager be authorized to amend the existing contract with Portsmouth <br />Paving Corporation to include these improvements." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. King, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $102,465 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVP24ENT <br />FUND'FOR IMPROVF24ENTS TO HARRIS ROAD AND AFTON PARKWAY." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Holley, J~hnson, King, Wentz, Barnes <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 74-115 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first <br />reading. This appropriates $5,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for extension <br />of gravity sewers in Edgefield. CommonweaIth Pipe Company, Inc., is working in this <br />area under contract installing gravity sewers. It is necessary that ~ravity sewers <br />be extended from the Southampton Subdivision to serve an adjacent area of Edgefield. <br />The contractor has agreed to do this work for $4,258.50. The remainder of money <br />requested is for engineering fees and inspection. <br /> <br /> It is recommended that this work be done while Commonwealth Pipe Company, Inc., <br />is working in this area." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager that <br />the work to be done by Commonwealth Pipe Company, Inc., was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
