<br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY IN
<br />THE H~TTONSVILLE AREA OF THE CITY TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY,
<br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY b~NAGER TO EXECUTE A DEED OF CONVEYANCE FOR THE SAME.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth currently owms a certain parcel of land located
<br />as hereinafter described; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said land is no longer needed for the public use of the City of Portsmouth
<br />and has been declared to be surplus property; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority of the City requires such land
<br />to further its aims and purposes of encouraging industrial development within the
<br />and has offered to pay a consideration of $4,000.00 per acre.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the following described parcel of land shall be conveyed to the Industrial Developmen
<br />Authority of the City of Portsmouth for a consideration of $4,000.00 per acre, such
<br />parcel of land being more particularly described as follows:
<br />
<br /> All that certain tract, piece or parcel of land, with the appurtenances thereunto
<br />belonging, situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, more particularl
<br />bounded and described as follows, towit: BEGINNING at the point of intersection of
<br />the Southern right of way line of Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Company and the Eastern
<br />right of way line of Elmhurst Lane Extended, as is shown on a certain plat entitled:
<br />"Proposed Property Acquisition for Extension of Elmhurst Lane from George T. McLean
<br />Co., inc.", dated March 20, 1973, made by Department of Engineering of the City of
<br />Portsmouth; thence from said point of beginning running North 57P Bast 410.55 feet,
<br />more or less, to the Northwestern corner of the property now or formerly owned by Harry
<br />L. Boone, Sr., said point being established by a boundary line agreement between the
<br />City of Portsmouth and Harry L. Boone, Sr., and wife, of record in the Clerk's Office
<br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Deed Book 570, at page
<br />569; thence running South $5°52' East 460.8 feet to a point in the Northernboundary
<br />line of the property no~ or formerly owned by Terminal Warehouse Corporation, said
<br />point being on the Southern right of way line of Rowley Street; thence running South
<br />S7°West 105.67 feet to the Northwest corner of the property now or formerly owned
<br />by Terminal Warehouse Corp.; thence running along the Western boundary line of the
<br />said Terminal Warehouse Corp., South 32°$1'54" East 5S5.15 feet, more or less, to
<br />the Northern right of way line of said Elmhurst Lane Extended, as shown on the
<br />aforementioned Plat; thence running Northwesterly along the right of way line of
<br />said Elmhurst Lane as shown on said Plat along the arc of a curve having a radius of
<br />755.15 feet a distance of 495.09 feet to the point of intersection with the Eastern
<br />boundary line of property now or formerly owned by George T. McLean Company, Incorporated;
<br />thence leaving the said right of way and running North 46~45' West along the George
<br />T. McLean Company, Incorporated, Eastern boundary line a distance of 454.06 feet to
<br />a point intersected by the Eastern boundary line of said Elmhurst Lane as shown on
<br />the Plat aforementioned; thence continuing along the Eastern boundary line of said
<br />Elmhurst Lane in a Northerly direction along the arc of a spiral a distance of 55.69
<br />feet to the point of beginning.

<br /> This tract of land is a part of the property conveyed to the City 9f Portsmouth
<br />by deed of Tarfa Corporation, dated March 28, 1962, of record in the Clerk's Office
<br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Deed Book 581, at page
<br />S71, and by condemnation proceedings filed in the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth
<br />Virginia, in the case styled City of Portsmouth v. Bessie D. Williams et al., the
<br />report of said Commissioner and Order confirming said report being du{y of record in
<br />the Clerk's Office aforementioned in Deed. Book 472, at pages 349 and SS5, respectively.

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to
<br />execute a deed of conveyance for same.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution supersedes the resolution pertaining
<br />to this matter which was adopted by council on May 8, 1975."

<br />in Park View. We do not anticipate a bond issue for General Obligation Bonds until late
<br />1974 or early 197S."

<br />PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING CERTAIN STREET AND HIGh~AY IMPROVEMENTS TO VARIOUS
<br />STREETS AND URBAN RENEWAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE PARKVtEW CONSERVATION PROJECT.
