<br /> On motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolutian was adopted,
<br />an by the following vote:

<br /> "A R~SOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING AN ALLEY BETh~EN MAY AND JUNE STREETS.
<br /> WHERF2~S, Richard Spendolini, Steve Godwin and Jerry Silvers have made application to vac
<br />and close the hereinafter described portion of a certain alley, and it appearing that the
<br />notice of the application and request for appointment of viewers was duly posted June 10,
<br />1975 on the bulletin board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin
<br />board of the General District Court (Civil Division), of the City of Portsmouth, and on
<br />the bulletin board of the Municipal Building, Portsmouth, Virginia.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that Prank N. Bilisoly, W. T. Goode, Jr., John H. Griffin, Clarence Robinson and James L.
<br />Choate be appointed viewer~ to view the hereinafter described portion of such alley and
<br />to report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what inconven~
<br />ience would result in vacating and closing the following:

<br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the
<br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia, as shown in the plat of the subdivision known as
<br /> Highland Biltmore, made by S. W. Armistead, C.E., dated March, 1948, duly
<br /> recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake,
<br /> Virginia, in Map Book $1, pages 65 and 66; said strip of land is 20' wide ex-
<br /> tending in an east-west direction, bounded on the east by June Street and on
<br /> the West by May Street and lies to the rear of Lots 9 through 13 and 55
<br /> through 57, both inclusive, of the aforementioned plat and extending a distance
<br /> 6f 555 feet, more or less, and further described as: Beginning at the south-
<br /> west intersection of June Street and Summers Place; thence North 1~05' East
<br /> 100 feet to the Point of Beginning; thence North 88q55' East 555 feet to the
<br /> east right of w~y line of May Street; thence North 1°05' East 20 feet to a point;
<br /> thence South 88Y55' East 555 feet to the west right of way line of June Street;
<br /> thence South 1~05' West Z0 feet to the Point of Beginning."

<br /> 75-289 "Consideration of a resolution appointing viewers for closing a portion of
<br />Queen street between Mount Vernon and Florida Avenues requested by the Housing Authority."
<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following resolution was adopee
<br />and by the following vote:

<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS POR CLOSING A PORTION OF QUEEN STREET BETWEEN
<br /> MT. VERNON AND FLORIDA AVENUES.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application to vacate
<br />and close the hereinafter described portion of a certain street, and it appearing that notic~
<br />of the application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly'posted June 27, 1975,
<br />on the bulletin board of the Municipal Building of the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin
<br />board of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, and on the bulletin board of the Genera
<br />District Court, Civil Division, of the City of Portsmouth.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,

<br /> ~om the easternmost line of Mt. Vernon Avenue to the westernmost line of

<br /> 7S-290 - "Consideration of a motion authorizing the City Manager to execute a lease
<br />of agreement for City property between the City and Mid-Atlantic Leasing Corporation located
<br />in the Pinners Point area.
<br />
<br /> The term of the lease shall be from June IS, 197S to June 50, 1976,
<br />$500.00 per month. The City has been leasing this property for the past
<br />the right to terminate the lease on 50 days written notice."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Ear/y, that
<br />execute ~greement, was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br /> 75-291 - "Consideration of a motion to authorize the
<br />with Portsmouth Paving Corporation not to exceed $110,466.
<br />
<br /> This contract covers the reconstruction~of the streets in the Edgefield aTea where
<br />sanitary ~ewers have recently been installed. Funds for this contract have been previously
<br />appropriated."
<br /> Motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the City Manager be au[horlzed to
<br />execute contract, was adopted by unanimous vote.
