<br /> 75-287 - "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and
<br />receive bids for the lease of City-owned property.
<br />
<br /> This resolution authorizes the City to advertise for long-term leasing a parcel of land
<br />adjacent to Maryview Hospital where the water tower is currentlyilocated. The City Manager
<br />recommends adoption."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR
<br />THE LEASE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Maryview Hospital Corporation has
<br />parcel of land be advertised for lease pursuant
<br />City of Portsmouth; and
<br />
<br />requested that the hereinafter described
<br />to Section 2.09(b) of the Charter of the
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has no need for the land.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to advertise and receive bids for
<br />the lease of the following described property:

<br /> All that certain lot, piece of parcel of land, situate, lying and being
<br />in the City of Portsmouth, bounded and described as follows:
<br />
<br /> Beginning at the former northeast intersection of High and West Streets;
<br />thence N 22910' E a distance of 18S.51 feet to a point; thence S 67°S0' E
<br />a distance of 210.04 feet to a point along the western right of way of the
<br />$m~b~amdtC~as~oLine Railroad Company; thence S S6O05' W a distance of 2S4.$8
<br />feet along the western right of way of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad
<br />Company to a point on the northern right of way of High Street; thence N
<br />47°04' E a distance of 72.96 feet along the northern right of way of High
<br />Street to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING. It being that parcel designated
<br />as parcel 4, tax plate 198 on the land records of the City Assessor for
<br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; PROVIDED, HOldOVER, that the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, reserves unto itself all that certain real property
<br />located within the fenced area surrounding the city's water tower, and
<br />f~mtR&~?.'that the City reserves unto itself a perpetual easement of ingress
<br />and egress to its water tower for maintenance and operation of said water
<br />tower and the area located within the City's fence."
