223 <br /> <br />fl~nher 14. 197~ <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted <br />and by the followingvvote: ' <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF A 7.105 ACRE PARCEL OF PROPERTY <br />SITUATE, LYING AND BEING ON THE EAST SIDE OF CRAWFORD PARKWAY TO PORTSMOUTH <br />REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, purchased a certain herein described parcel <br />of property for the purpose of development in connection with the Crawford Harbor Development <br />Plan; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, said Crawford Harbor Development Plan has been designed for the City of Ports~ <br />mouth and Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority by Cossutta and Ponte, Architects- <br />Planners; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the continued development of the aforesaid plan is being implemented by the <br />City of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Redevelopment and ttousing Authority; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and }lousing Authority is a political subdivision <br />of the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the following described <br />property to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority: <br /> <br /> ALL that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, with the appurtenances <br />thereunto belonging, consisti~g~o~f approximately 7.105 acres and lying, <br />situate and being on the east side of Crawford Parkway in the City of <br />RaMtBmouth, Virginia, and more particularly described as follows, tou~it: <br /> <br /> BEGINNING at a point on the eastern line of Crawford Street where <br />said line is intersected by the northern line of North Street as located <br />prior to closure of that street, and running thence North 87°01'4S" East, <br />fl66c$9 feet along said northern line of North Street to a point where said <br />northern line of North Street is intersected by the eastern line of Water <br />Street as located prior to~h~ closure of that street; thence South 2~58'15" <br />East, 81.02 feet to a point; thence North 86o32'45" East, 407.10 feet <br />to a point on the pierhead line in the Elizabeth River; thence along said <br />pierhead line North 4o59'59" West. 382.'16 feet to a point; thence continuing <br />along said pierhead line North 15619'5S'' West, 171.19 feet to a point in <br />said pierhead line where the same is intersected by the southern line of the <br />property of Me~Rday Inns of America as described in that certain deed from <br />~rlington Trust Company, Inc. to the said Holiday Inns of America recorded <br />· n the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, in Deed Book 414, at page 386; thence along said southern line of <br />the property of Holiday Inns of America and along the face of a bulkhead <br />South 76~47'25" West, 688.72 feet to the eastern line of Crawford Parkway; <br />thence in a southerly direction along the eastern line of Crawford <br />Parkway along a curve to the right the radius of which is 621.88 feet an <br />~k~istance of 263.16 feet to a point; thence continuing along the <br />eastern line of Crawford Parkway South 3~33'15" East, 95.83 feet to the <br />poing of beginning aforesaid. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to com- <br />plete all transactions and execute all documents incident to said conveyance." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, <br />Nays: None <br />Abstaining: Wentz <br /> <br />Elliott, Holley, Oast, DAvis <br /> <br /> 75-457 - "Consideration of a resolution authorizing acquisition of certain property und~ <br />eminent domain proceedings, located at 1545 Wool Avenue necessary for the construction, al- <br />teration and widening of Wool Avenue." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following resolution was <br />adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, UNDER EMINENT DObbIN PROCEEDINGS PURSUANT <br />TO CHAPTER 471 OF THE ACTS OF ASSEMBLY, AS ~MENDED, SAID PROPERTY BEING <br />NECESSARY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION AND WIDENING OF WOOL AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has found it necessary to acquire the interest herein- <br />after specified in and to the hereinafter described parcel of land situate in the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the purpose of constructing, altering and widening Wool Avenue. <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, the City of Portsmouth has not been able to purchase the property described <br />herein, necessary to the project, because the owners thereof and the City have not been <br />able to agree upon the p~ice to be paid therfor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, advancement of the work and use of said project will be delayed unreasonably <br />if said property is not made available as soon as possible. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> <br />
