The <br />total cost for this program is $5,463 and the local required match is $273. This appropriatio~ <br />will also provide funds necessary to purchase communications equipment for use by the City Jail <br />for communication between deputies. The total amount of this grant is $5,548 and the local <br />required match is g798. The local funds have been previously approved in..the General Fund <br />Operating Budget. The City Manager recommends adoption on first reading. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following ordinance was approved <br />on first reading, and by unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $11,011 FROM THE FEDERAL GRANTS FUND FOR THE JAIL <br /> INFORMATION PROGRAM AND COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT." <br /> <br /> ~ 7~-236 "Consideratio~ of an ordinance appropriating $50,000 from <br />Program Fund for the purchase of the residual parcel from the Virginia <br />at the intersection of Crawford and Columbia Streets. <br /> <br />the Capital Improvement <br />Department of Highways <br /> <br /> This appropriation will provide the nee~ssary funds to purchase the residual parcel known <br />as Parcel #t35, at the intersection of Crawford and Columbia Streets. The Department of High- <br />ways and Transportation has agreed to sell this parcel for their 50% right-of-way cost, since <br />the City paid 50% on the right-of-way for the Crawfdrd Street Connector. Also, this appropri- <br />ation will provide the necessary funds to pay for the soil boring tests being conducted on the <br />waterfront. The City Manager recommends adoption on first reading." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Elliott and seconded by Mr. Early, the following ordinance was approved <br />on first reading, and by unanimous vot~e: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF A RESIDUE PARCEL O~ LAND FROM THE' VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS <br />AND TRANSPORTATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF CRAWFORD STREET AND COLUMBIA STREET." <br /> <br /> <br />
