July 27_ ]~76 SFHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority has agreed to purchase said parcels for the hereinafter stated purchase price, said parcels to be developed in accordance with the planned redevelopment of Southside III; and WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia thereby eliminating the requirement for advertisement or receipt of bids as provided in Section 2.09(c) of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the following described property to Portsmouth Redevelopment & HoUsing Authority in exchange for the stated purchase price: PARCEL A Purchase Price $750.00 All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, with the buildings and improvements thereon, said improvements being numbered according to the present system of street numbering of the City of Portsmouth as 325 Fifth Street, situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a point 30 feet north from the northwest intersection of ~{fth S~reet and Randolph Street; thence running north along Fifth Street 31 feet to a point; thence west and parallel with Randolph Street 90 feet to a point; thence south and parallel with Fifth Street 51 feet to a point; thence east and parallel with Randolph Street 90 feet to the Point of Beginning. PARCEL B Purchase Price $550.00 All that certain lot,~piece or parcel of land, with the buildings and improvements thereon, and the appurtenances thereunto belongong, situate, lying and being in that part of the City of Portsmouth called New Town, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a point 120 feet west of the intersection of Fifth Street &nd Harrison Street; thence running south along a line parallel with Fifth Street 121 feet to a point; thence westerly along a line parallel with Harrison Street 30 feet to a point; thence northwardl~ along a line parallel with Fifth Street 221 feet to a point; thence eastwardly and parallel with Harrison Street 30 feet to the Point of Beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to complet{ all transactions and execute all documents incident to such conveyance." Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, east, Wentz, Davis Nays: None 76-303 - "gonsideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and receive bids on City-owned property located at 701Z Columb'ia Street. The subject property has been declared surplus by the Planning Commission at their regular monthly meeting on May 6th. No other City agency, including the Portsmouth Redevelopt ment ~ Housing Authority and the School Board, has any use for this property. The adjacent land owner has expressed interest in purchasing this parcel of land. The City Manager recom- mends adoption." On motin of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: ' "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ~iiNAGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS F0R CERTAIN CITY-OWNED PROPERTY (?01 COLUMBIA STREET).
