67 <br /> <br />October 26, 1976 <br /> <br /> secondedbby Mr. Oast, the follOwing resolution was adopted, <br /> On <br /> motion <br /> of <br /> Mr. <br /> Barnes and <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PROJECTS AND THE PRIORITY FOR THE PROJECTS TO BE <br />SUBMITTED TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE <br />PUBLIC WORKS LEGISLATION. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia has prepared an application <br />funding of certain projects pursuant to the Local Public Works Act; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, has reviewed <br />including the understandings and assurances contained therein. <br /> <br />for federal <br /> <br /> said application, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that <br />Council approves the following projects and sets out their priority in numerical seqqemnee <br />to be submitted to the Economic Development Administration for funding under the Public Works <br />Legislation. <br /> <br /> £6r~rC.i~ AMga .Of ~d~Yotk And PoMtsmouth Which Mxceeds The National Unemployment Rate <br />of Approximately 7.6%. <br /> <br />Project <br /> <br />(1) Curb, gutters and street improvements: Deep Creek Boulevard from Des Moines <br /> Avenue to Wright Avenue, Brighton, North Truxtun, Syre Road, Northside; <br /> <br />(2) Renovation and Improvements for Portsmouth Cultural Center; <br /> <br />(3) Renovation of Harry Hunt Jr. High School; <br /> <br />(4) Improvements for Streets and Drainage facilities in Cradock; <br /> <br />do <br /> <br />City-Wide Unemployment <br /> <br />Project <br /> <br />Rate Which Exceeds 6-1/2%. <br /> <br /> (1) Drainage <br /> <br /> (2) Drainage <br /> <br /> (3) Drainage Improvements, Elliott Avenue and Beacon Road; <br /> <br /> (4) Improvements to Godwin Street Pump Station; <br /> <br /> (S) Development of Churchland Park; <br /> <br /> (6) Lawrence Stadium Renovation; <br /> <br /> (7) Construction of Mid-City Family Life Center. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or his duly <br />whatever is <br /> <br />Improvements, Deep Creek Boulevard to George Washington Highway; <br />Improvements, Cavalier Manor; <br /> <br />necessary to present <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />such application to the <br />Elliott, Holley, Oast, <br /> <br />authorized representative will <br />Economic Development Administratic <br /> <br />Wentz, Davis <br /> <br /> 76-432 - "Consideration of a resolution to condemn property belonging to Cradock <br />Metal andfRoofing Company." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Wentz and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the following resolution was <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OP CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, UNDER EMINENT DOMAIN PROCEEDINGS PURSUANT TO CHAPTER <br />471 OF THE ACTS OF ASSEMBLY, AS AMENDED, SAID PROPERTY BEING NECESSARY FOR <br />THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION AND ~INTENANCE OF PARADISE CREEK DRAINAGE PROJECT. <br /> <br />Sheet <br /> <br />~dopted, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has found it necessary to acquire interests hereinafter <br />specified in and to the hereinafter described parcel of land situate in the City of Portsmout~ <br />Virginia, for the purpose of constructing, altering and maintaining ~he Paradise Creek Drain- <br />age Project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has nor been able to purchase property described herein, <br />necessary to the project, because the owners thereof in the City have not been able to agree <br />upon price to be paid therefor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, advancement of the work and use of the said project will be delayed unreasonabl~ <br />if said property is not made available as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BEFIT RESOLVED by the CounCil of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> <br />
