Their report and a sketch of the proposed street to be closed is attached <br />for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the matter to be deferred <br />ky the ~ity Manager; and was adopted by unanimous vote <br /> <br /> 77-183 "Consideration of an ordinance closing a portion of Potomac Avenue. <br /> <br />as requested <br /> <br /> Construction Associates, Inc., and Melville Corporation have made application to vacate, <br />close and discontinue a portion of Potomac Avenue. City Council by resolution adopted April <br />26~ 1977 appointed viewers. A copy of their report and a sketch of the proposed street to <br />be closed is attached for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following ordinance was adopted <br />on first and final reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: <br />(S-77-10)" <br /> <br />A PORTION OF POTOMAC AVENUE <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, Oast, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 77-184 "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and <br />receive bids for the purchase or exchange of City owned property on Wave~ly Boulevard. <br /> <br /> This authorization is requested in order to permit an exchange of property with an <br />adjacent land owner to allow an interior parking lot in the Olde Towne Conservation Project, <br />to be located at the rear of the property. The owner and the Engineering Department are both <br />in favor of this exchange and feel that an improvement will be broBght about by the relocation <br />of the parking lot to the rear of the property. A plat of the properties to be exchanged is <br />attached for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR <br />THE PURCHASE OR EXCHANGE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON WAVERLY BOULEVARD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain hereinafter described property on Waverly <br />Boulevard; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is no longer needed by the City and is hereby declared to <br />be surplus. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to advertise and receive bids for the following <br />described property on such terms and conditions as he may deem proper: <br /> <br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and <br />being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a p0int on the South side of Waverly Boulevard, <br />said point being North 86957'54" East 149.50 feet from the Southeast <br />intersection of Waverly Boulevard and Dinwiddie Street; thence South <br />03032'42'' East 127.35 feet to a point~ thence South 86057'54'' West <br />6.90 feet to a point;~ thence North O3~32'42" West 127.35 feet to <br />a point on the South side of Waverly Boulevard; thence along the <br />South side of Waverly Boulevard North 86057'54'' East 6.90 feet <br />to the Point of Beginning." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Hotley, Oast, Wentz, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 77-185 - "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and <br />receive bids for the purchase or exchange of City owned property on Princeton road in the <br />Suffolk. <br /> <br /> While attempting to acquire a waterline easement along Princeton Road, the adjacent <br />land owner proposed a land exchange as shown on the attached plat. The Public Utilities <br />Department has no objection to the exchange and a copy of a letter from Mr. George Thornton, <br />~wner, expressing no objections is attached for your information. The City Manager recom- <br />mends adoption." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: ~ <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR <br />THE SALE OR EXCItANGE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON PRINCETON ROAD, SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Public Utilities Department, owns certain hereinafter <br />described real property in the City of Suffolk; and <br /> <br /> <br />
