197 May 31, 1977 77-182 "Consideration of an ordinance closing a portion of Robin Hood Avenue. Brian K. Spivey and Lone Star Industries have made application to vacate, close and discontinue a portion of Robin Hood Avenue. Council by resolution adopted on April 26, 1977 appointed viewers. Their report and a sketch of the proposed street to be closed is attached for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Elliott, the matter to be deferred ky the ~ity Manager; and was adopted by unanimous vote 77-183 "Consideration of an ordinance closing a portion of Potomac Avenue. as requested Construction Associates, Inc., and Melville Corporation have made application to vacate, close and discontinue a portion of Potomac Avenue. City Council by resolution adopted April 26~ 1977 appointed viewers. A copy of their report and a sketch of the proposed street to be closed is attached for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following ordinance was adopted on first and final reading, and by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: (S-77-10)" A PORTION OF POTOMAC AVENUE Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Holley, Oast, Wentz, Davis Nays: None 77-184 "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and receive bids for the purchase or exchange of City owned property on Wave~ly Boulevard. This authorization is requested in order to permit an exchange of property with an adjacent land owner to allow an interior parking lot in the Olde Towne Conservation Project, to be located at the rear of the property. The owner and the Engineering Department are both in favor of this exchange and feel that an improvement will be broBght about by the relocation of the parking lot to the rear of the property. A plat of the properties to be exchanged is attached for your information. The City Manager recommends adoption." On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OR EXCHANGE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON WAVERLY BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain hereinafter described property on Waverly Boulevard; and WHEREAS, said property is no longer needed by the City and is hereby declared to be surplus. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to advertise and receive bids for the following described property on such terms and conditions as he may deem proper: All that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a p0int on the South side of Waverly Boulevard, said point being North 86957'54" East 149.50 feet from the Southeast intersection of Waverly Boulevard and Dinwiddie Street; thence South 03032'42'' East 127.35 feet to a point~ thence South 86057'54'' West 6.90 feet to a point;~ thence North O3~32'42" West 127.35 feet to a point on the South side of Waverly Boulevard; thence along the South side of Waverly Boulevard North 86057'54'' East 6.90 feet to the Point of Beginning." Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Hotley, Oast, Wentz, Davis Nays: None 77-185 - "Consideration of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to advertise and receive bids for the purchase or exchange of City owned property on Princeton road in the Suffolk. While attempting to acquire a waterline easement along Princeton Road, the adjacent land owner proposed a land exchange as shown on the attached plat. The Public Utilities Department has no objection to the exchange and a copy of a letter from Mr. George Thornton, ~wner, expressing no objections is attached for your information. The City Manager recom- mends adoption." On motion of Mr. Early and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: ~ "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE AND RECEIVE BIDS FOR THE SALE OR EXCItANGE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON PRINCETON ROAD, SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA. WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Public Utilities Department, owns certain hereinafter described real property in the City of Suffolk; and
