<br /> WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Department has determined that said property is no longer
<br />needed and the same is hereby declared to be surplus.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to advertise and receive bids for
<br />the following described property on such terms and subject to such minimum bid restrictions
<br />as he may deem proper.
<br />
<br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being
<br />in the City of Suffolk, Virginia, bounded and described as follows:
<br />
<br /> Beginning at a point on the West side of Princeton Road, said point
<br />being the point at which the line dividing the property owned by the City
<br />of Portsmouth and the property now or formerly owned by M. R. Welch inter-
<br />sects the West boundary of Princeton Road; thence North 72°27'05'' West
<br />27.32 feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING; thence from said True Point
<br />of Beginning South 36~48'41" West 21.18 feet to a point; thence North
<br />72°27'05'' West 52.68 feet to a point; thence North 17°49'20'' East 20.0
<br />feet to a point; thence South 72o27'05" East 59.57 feet to the True
<br />Point of Beginning, said parcel containing 1116.71 square feet."

<br /> 77-186 - "Consideration of a resolution appointing viewers for the closing of a portion
<br />of Middle Street between the northern right-of-way line on Coun%y Street between the northern
<br />right-of-way line on King Street.
<br />
<br /> The City of Portsmouth has made application to vacate said portion of Middle Street
<br />and the Planning Commission has approved same. This resolution appoints viewers pursuant
<br />to State law to make a report to the City Council. The ~ity Manager recommends adoption."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Oast and seconded by Mr. Wentz, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: A PORTION OF MIDDLE
<br /> STREET BETWEEN THE NORTHERN RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF COUNTY STREET AND THE NORTHERN RIGHT
<br /> OF WAY OF KING STREET.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application to vacate and close the hereinafter
<br />described portion of a certain street, and it appearing that notice of application and
<br />request for the appointment of viewers was duly posted May 9, 1977 on the bulletin boards
<br />of the Circuit Court of the City:of Portsmouth, the bulletin board of the City Hall Building
<br />of the City of Portsmouth and the bulletin board of the General District Court, Civil
<br />Division, of the City of Portsmouth.

<br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that,
<br />Frank N. Bilisoly, A. N. Kendrick, Linon Vann, C. E. Ellis and H. L. Davis be appointed
<br />viewers and Raymond Tweed be appointed an alternate viewer in the event one of the preceding
<br />viewers fails to participate. Said viewers to view the hereinafter described portion of
<br />such street and to report to this Council in writing whether in their Opinion any, and
<br />if any, what inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the following:

<br />MIDDLE STREET
<br />
<br /> Beginning at the north right of way line of County Street where it
<br /> intersects with the east right of way line of Middle Street; thence
<br /> north along the east right of way line of Middle Street to its intersection
<br /> with the north right of way line of King Street; thence west 60 feet to
<br /> ,itc lH~ west right of way line of Middle Street; thence south along said right
<br /> of way of Middle Street to its intersection with the north right of way
<br /> line of County Street; thence east 60 feet to the Point Of Origin. (S-77-11)"

<br /> 77-187 - "Consideration of a resolution appointing viewers for the closing of a portion
<br />of the following streets: 5th Street, Scott Street, Griffin Street, Race Street, and Wythe
<br />Street.
<br />
<br /> The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application to vacate and
<br />close a portion of the stated streets. This property is located in the So~thside Community
<br />Development area. This resolution appoints viewers pursuant to State law to make a report
<br />to the City Council. The City Manager recommends adoption."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Early, the following resolution was adopted,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREETS: A PORTION
<br /> OF FIFTH STREET, A PORTION OF SCOTT STREET, A PORTION OF GRIFFIN STREET, A
<br /> PORTION OF RACE STREET, AND A PORTION OF WYTHE STREET.

<br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application to vacate
<br />and close the hereinafter described portions of certain streets, and it appearing that
<br />notice of application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly posted April 19,
