This appropriation will provide the necessary funds to make various improvements at 11
different schools throughout the City to facilitate the use of the schools for recreational
purposes. The School Administration and the Department of Parks and Recreation have worked
very closely on this project; and these improvements will permit the use of the schools for
recreation by the neighborhoods. This project was included in the 1977-78 Capital Improve-
ments Program under category of 'Indoor Facilities at Schools.' A listing of the improvement
to be made at each of the individual shcools is attached for your information. The City

77-394 "Consideration of an ordinance on first reading to appropriate $55,000 in the
City Garage Fund for purchase of a commercial collection vehicle.

This appropriation will provide the necessary funds to the City Garage Fund for the
purchase of a replacement vehicle to be used in the collection of commercial refuse. The
Administration recommended that we remain in the commercial collection business during our
budget review in the Spring of 1977. There were several changes in the refuse collection
division. However, at the time it was noted that two replacement vehicles would be required
in order to deliver the commercial service ~ficiently. One vehicle was purchased from the
funds provided in the General Operating Budget; .however, there were no funds provided for
the second vehicle. This appropriation will be funded from the emergency contingency account
of the General Fund. The City Manager recommends adoption of first reading."
