ORDINANCE NO. 2026-04 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $53,623 FROM <br />THE VIRGINIA OFFICE OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING <br />SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2026 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR CHILDREN'S <br />SERVICES ACT ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts funding in the amount of $53,623 from the Virginia Office <br />of Children's Services and appropriates said funds in the FY 2026 Social Services Fund. <br />2. That the appropriation shall be used by the Department of Social Services <br />for Children's Services Act administrative costs. <br />3. That, to the extent not expended, the funds shall be deemed reappropriated <br />into the Social Services Fund budget annually until expended in their entirety or <br />recaptured by the granting agency. <br />4. That a local match of 26.05% is required as a condition of the funding, <br />which match has previously been appropriated as part of the FY 2026 Social Services <br />Fund Budget. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Social Services <br />Fund Budget are increased by $53,623. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on January 13, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
