ORDINANCE NO. 2026-86 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $600,000 FROM THE FUND BALANCE OF THE <br />GENERAL FUND TO THE FY 2027 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PROVIDE <br />FUNDING TO THE PORTSMOUTH SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR THE SALARIES AND <br />BENEFITS OF FIVE (5) FULL-TIME SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it appropriates $600,000 from the Fund Balance of the General Fund to the <br />FY 2027 General Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds so appropriated shall be used by the Portsmouth Sheriff's Office for <br />the salaries and benefits of five (5) full-time School Resource Officers. <br />3. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2027 General Fund are <br />increased by $600,000. <br />4. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held on August <br />25, 2026. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
