ORDINANCE NO. 2025-55 <br />AN ORDINANCE (1) ACCEPTING A BYRNE/JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,663 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES, (2) APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN <br />THE FY 2026 GRANTS FUND, AND (3) TRANSFERRING $10,221 FROM THE <br />ASSET FORFEITURE FUND TO THE FY 2026 GRANTS FUND TO SERVE AS <br />THE LOCAL MATCH, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING EQUIPMENT, <br />SUPPLIES, AND TECHNOLOGY FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts a Byrne/Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $30,663 <br />from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriates said amount <br />in the FY 2026 Grants Fund. <br />2. That a local match in the amount of $10,221 is required as a condition of <br />the funding. <br />3. That it transfers funds in the amount of $10,221 from the Asset Forfeiture <br />Fund to the FY 2026 Grants Fund to serve as the required local match. <br />4. That the appropriated and transferred funds shall be used for the purpose <br />of purchasing equipment, supplies, and technology for the Police Department. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $40,884. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on July 22, 2025. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
