ORDINANCE NO. 2024-109 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP <br />GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,777.26 FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />JUSTICE — BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />FUNDS IN THE FY 2025 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT ($21,332.90) AND THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE ($4,444.36) TO <br />ACQUIRE BULLETPROOF VESTS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant in the amount <br />of $25,777.26 from the Department of Justice — Bureau of Justice Assistance and <br />appropriates said funds in the FY 2025 Grants Fund. <br />2. That $21,332.90 of the funds shall be used by the Police Department to <br />acquire bulletproof vests and $4,444.36 of the funds shall be used by the Sheriff's Office <br />to acquire bulletproof vests. <br />3. That a dollar for dollar local match is required as a condition of the funding, <br />which match has been previously appropriated in the Uniform line of the FY 2025 General <br />Fund Budget for the Police Department ($21,332.90) and the FY 2025 General Fund <br />Budget for the Sheriff's Office ($4,444.36). <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $25,777.26. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 22, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
