ORDINANCE NO. 2024-108 <br />AN ORDINANCE (1) ACCEPTING A PRESERVATION TRUST FUND GRANT <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $376,247.25 FROM THE VIRGINIA OUTDOORS <br />FOUNDATION AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 <br />GRANTS FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF RENOVATING MAPLEWOOD PARK <br />LOCATED AT 3235 PORTSMOUTH BOULEVARD AND (2) AUTHORIZING <br />THE CONVEYANCE OF A PERMANENT EASEMENT IN FAVOR OF THE <br />VIRGINIA OUTDOORS FOUNDATION OR ITS DESIGNEE ENCUMBERING <br />APPROXIMATELY 1.80 ACRES OF OPEN SPACE AT 3235 PORTSMOUTH <br />BOULEVARD IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF VIRGINIA <br />CODE SECTION 10.1-1801.1 AND VIRGINIA CODE SECTION 10.1-1700. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a Preservation Trust Fund grant in the amount of <br />$376,247.25 from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation and appropriates said amount in the <br />FY 2025 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the funds shall be used for the purpose of renovating Maplewood Park. <br />3. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $376,247.25. <br />5. That it approves and authorizes the conveyance of a permanent easement in <br />favor of the Virginia Outdoors Foundation or its designee encumbering approximately 1.80 <br />acres of open space at 3235 Portsmouth Boulevard in compliance with the requirements of <br />Virginia Code Section 10.1-1801.1 and Virginia Code Section 10.1-1700. <br />6. That the City Manager is authorized to execute the grant agreement and the <br />easement, and such other documents or instruments related to the transaction that he may <br />deem necessary or desirable. <br />7. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 22, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
