ORDINANCE NO. 2024-110 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 6-2 AND 6-7 OF <br />ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 6 (BOATS AND WATERWAYS) OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />STRENGTHENING THE REMEDIES AVAILABLE TO ADDRESS ABANDONED <br />AND/OR ILLEGALLY MOORED WATERCRAFT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it amends and reordains Sections 6-2 (Removal or Repair of Hazardous <br />or Obstructing Docks, Piers or Other Structures or Vessels) and Section 6-7 (City Piers, <br />Wharves, Docks, Landings, Etc.; Regulation) of Article I of Chapter 6 of the Code of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br />2. That the purpose of the amendments is to strengthen the remedies available <br />to address abandoned or illegally moored watercraft. <br />3. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 22, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
