ORDINANCE NO. 2024-62 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,952 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 GRANTS FUND FOR USE <br />BY THE PORTSMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ACQUIRE <br />AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grant <br />funds in the amount of $15,952 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice <br />Services and appropriates said amount in the FY 2025 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Portsmouth Police Department to <br />acquire Automated External Defibrillators. <br />3. That in addition to the funding in the amount of $15,952 provided via the <br />Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, the City is required to contribute local <br />matching funds of 25% ($5,317), for a total project funding amount of $21,269. The <br />local match in the amount of $5,317 has previously been appropriated in the Police <br />Department section of the FY 2025 General Fund Budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $15,952. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on July 9, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
