R -21 -21 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF THE PARC <br />SHELTER PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1900 COLUMBUS AVENUE. <br />WHEREAS, for many years the property located at 1900 Columbus Avenue, <br />commonly known as the PARC Shelter, has served the community as an emergency shelter <br />and a source of supportive services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, which owns <br />the shelter property, has requested that the City take title to it; and <br />WHEREAS, it is an important part of the City's plan to address homelessness that <br />the shelter continue to serve the Portsmouth community; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that it hereby authorizes the City to acquire the PARC Shelter <br />property, and that it further authorizes the City Manager to execute such documents and <br />instruments as are necessary or desirable in furtherance of the said acquisition, including <br />Without limitation the execution of such agreements as may he necessary to allow Help and <br />Emergency Response, Inc. to continue shelter operations. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on August 10, 2021. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
