AL-i- <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2 -790 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006), AS AMENDED, TO <br />EXPAND THE COMMUNITY CRIMINAL JUSTICE BOARD BY <br />DESIGNATING FOUR NEW MEMBERS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That Section 2 -790 of Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia (2006) be amended and reordained as follows: <br />Sec. 2 -790. — Established; membership; qualifications. <br />There is hereby established by the city council a board to be known as <br />the community criminal justice board. The appointments to the board shall be <br />made by the city council. The community criminal justice board shall not <br />exceed 4=922 members and shall be composed of a judge of the general district <br />court; a circuit court judge; a juvenile and domestic relations district court <br />judge; the chief magistrate; a member from the city council or the city <br />manager or a deputy city manager appointed by the city council; the chief of <br />police; an attorney for the commonwealth; a public defender and /or an <br />attorney who is experienced in the defense of criminal matters; the sheriff, the <br />superintendent of the Hampton Roads Regional Jail; a local educator;; a <br />behavioral healthcare services advisory board administrator;; the chief of adult <br />probation and parole: the director of juvenile court services: the director of <br />community corrections and pretrial services: the director of social services: <br />and up to six citizens of the city. The community criminal justice board shall <br />possess the powers and duties granted to it by Code of Virginia, § 9.1 -178 et <br />seq. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on September 25, 2018. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
