<br />URDI <br /> <br /> <br />2010-23 <br />1Jt"","_~,,,,-,!:!l..-'''''~''-'; <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $851,000 IN FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDS <br />F'ROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT A TION FOR THREE <br />HIGHW A Y SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROACTIVE SAFETY <br />PROJECTS ON HIGH STREET AND ON GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY, <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2009-2010 CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORT A TION FOR ADMINISTRATION OF SAID PROJECTS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That it accepts the sum of $851,000 from the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation (VDOT) Highway Safety Improvement Program and appropriates said <br />funds in the FY 2009-2010 Capital Improvements Fund; and <br /> <br />2. That the funds shall be used for improvements at the George Washington <br />Highway - Victory Boulevard, George Washington Highway - Elm A venue, and High <br />Street - Cedar Lane intersections; and <br /> <br />3. That estimated revenue in the FY 2009-2010 Capital Improvements Fund <br />is increased by $851,000. <br /> <br />4. That the cost of the projects will be borne totally by VDOT, and that no <br />matching funds are required from City. <br /> <br />5. That the City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement with the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation for administration of the projects. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on March 23, 2010. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
