'If. ~,v <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $2,393,800 IN FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDS <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FIVE <br />NEW PROJECTS TO UPGRADE TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND TO CONSTRUCT <br />SAFETY-RELATED IMPROVEMENTS, APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN <br />THE FY 2009-2010 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND, AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ADMINISTRATION <br />OF SAID PROJECTS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That it accepts the sum of $2,393,800 from the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation (VDOT) Highway Safety Improvement Program and appropriates said <br />funds in the FY 2009-2010 Capital Improvements Fund; and <br /> <br />2. That the funds shall be used to upgrade the traffic signals and construct <br />safety related improvements at the intersections of Effingham Street/High Street, Elm <br />Avenue/County Street, High Street/Tyre Neck Road, Victory Boulevard/Elmhurst Lane, <br />and Airline Boulevard/Greenwood Drive/Hodges Ferry Road; and <br /> <br />3. That estimated revenue in the FY 2009-2010 Capital Improvements Fund <br />is increased by $2,393,800. <br /> <br />4. That the cost of the projects will be borne totally by VDOT, and that no <br />matching funds are required from City. <br /> <br />5. That the City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement with the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation for administration of the projects. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on March 23,2010. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
