<br />1. Term. This agreement is for a term of five years, from July 1,2010 through June 30, <br /> <br />2015, It may be extended or renewed by writing signed by authorized representatives of the <br /> <br /> <br />parties, <br /> <br /> <br />2, General Description of Services as Municipal Pound at the Facility, The Humane <br /> <br /> <br />Society shall operate the Facility as a Municipal Pound as contemplated by Virginia Code ~3,2- <br /> <br /> <br />6546(B) and shall accept custody of animals that fall within the responsibility of a Municipal <br /> <br /> <br />Pound ("City Custodial Animals"), except that the Humane Society shall not be required to <br /> <br /> <br />accept exotic or other animals that it deems beyond its capability to manage under applicable <br /> <br /> <br />law, It shall receive City Custodial Animals, impound them, house and feed them, and obtain <br /> <br /> <br />needed veterinary care for them. It shall provide these services in a clean, sanitary, and humane <br /> <br /> <br />way, in accordance with all applicable law, including but not limited to Virginia Code Title 3.2, <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter 65 ("Comprehensive Animal Welfare"), the Rules and Regulations ofthe Virginia <br /> <br /> <br />Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, and the standards set by the Office of <br /> <br /> <br />Veterinary Services, <br /> <br /> <br />3, Veterinary Services. The Humane Society shall be responsible for the cost of all <br /> <br />veterinary services provided under this agreement. <br /> <br />4, Payment. For the services provided hereunder, the City shall pay the Humane Society <br /> <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Year 1 - July 1,2010 to June 30, 2011 <br />Year 2 - July 1,2011 to June 30, 2012 <br />Year 3 - July 1,2012 to June 30, 2013 <br />Year 4 - July 1,2013 to June 30, 2014 <br /> <br />$325,000 <br />$325,000 <br />$325,000 <br />$325,000 <br /> <br />-2- <br />
