<br />ORD1NAtCE 1J.2.00~8 _ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $529,824 <br />FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND <br />APPROPRIATING $513,426 OF SAID GRANT IN THE FY 2008-2009 GRANTS <br />FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR PORT <br />SECURITY EQUIPMENT. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $529,824 from the U.S. <br />Department of Homeland Security for use by the Police Department for Port Security <br />equipment. <br /> <br />2. That said grant includes matching funds of $116,462 from the City of <br />Portsmouth's FY 2008-2009 Donations Fund, and the transfer of said funds to the FY <br />2008-2009 Grants Fund is hereby authorized. <br /> <br />3. That said grant also includes matching funds in the amount of $14,409.50 <br />from the City of Chesapeake and $1,448.75 from the Town of Smithfield, which funds <br />are included in the grant but which are not appropriated by this ordinance. <br /> <br />Fund. <br /> <br />4. That the sum of $513,426 is appropriated in the FY 2008-2009 Grants <br /> <br />5. That estimated revenues in the FY 2008-2009 Grants Fund are increased <br />by $513,426. <br /> <br />6.
