<br />W1DlNANCE 10. 2008 - 53 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $572,829 <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2008-2009 GRANTS FUND <br />BUDGET FOR THE OPERATION OF LOCAL PROBATION AND PRETRIAL <br />SERVICES IN THE CITY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the City of Portsmouth accepts a grant in the amount of $572,829 <br />from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services for use by the Sheriffs ()ffice <br />to provide quality supervision to non-violent offenders and defendants in the community <br />and to impact directly the jail population. <br /> <br />2. That estimated revenue in the FY 2008-2009 Grants Fund budget is <br />increased by $572,829, and that said amount is appropriated in the FY 2008-2009 Grants <br />Fund budget. <br /> <br />3. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on July 22, 2008. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
