<br />R-06-28 <br /> <br />ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE CHIEF FINANCIAL <br />OFFICER AS THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED AGENT TO PROVIDE <br />INFORMATION FOR CERTAIN FEDERAL OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS <br />ADMINISTERED BY THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, both State and Federal laws require that public entities authorize an <br />agent to provide all information as may be needed for federal Office of Justice Programs <br />grant programs administered by the Commonwealth of Virginia; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City must comply with requests for information and file regular <br />reports to the Commonwealth of Virginia to receive federal financial assistance under the <br />Oftice or Justice Programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Chief Financial Officer is best equipped to provide such <br />financial data and other information as may be required in order to qualify for and to <br />obtain such federal grants, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth. Virginia that the City's Chief Financial Officer be, and hereby is, designated <br />as the City's authorized agent with the responsibility of providing accurate information to <br />the State and to federal government as it pertains to the requirements of federal Office of <br />Justice Programs grant programs, <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on May 23. 2006 <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
