<br />R-06-19 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION GRANTING APPROVAL OF A GROUP HOUSING USE <br />PERMIT (GHP-06-04) TO THE LAWSON COMPANIES TO CONSTRUCT 120 <br />RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT UNITS ON THE SITE OF THE CURRENT <br />PORTSMOUTH ESTATES IN THE HODGES MANOR NEIGHBORHOOD. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Lawson Companies has made application, pursuant to Section <br />40-112 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988), as amended, for the <br />approval and granting of a group housing use permit for 120 residential apartment units <br />on the site of the current Portsmouth Estates in the Hodges Manor neighborhood, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the subject property is furthermore described as: <br /> <br />GHP-06-04 <br /> <br />All those 30 lots, with the buildings and improvements <br />thereon and the appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate <br />in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and being known, <br />numbered and designated as Lots 6 through 20 and 45 <br />through 61, as shown on that certain plat entitled "MAP OF <br />PORTSMOUTH ESTATES PROPERTY OF PAT <br />REALTY CORP" NORFOLK COUNTY, V A, SCALE <br />I "=50''', dated March 30, 1943, prepared by Jno, M, <br />Baldwin, Civil Engineer, Norfolk, Virginia and recorded in <br />the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of <br />Chesapeake, Virginia, (formerly Norfolk County, Virginia), <br />in Map Book 27, at page 10, <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed such application and site <br />plan submitted therewith and has recommended conditional approval of said application; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the applicant has been informed that approval of the group housing <br />project pursuant to Section 40-116 only grants an exemption from certain requirements <br />for residences as stated in said section and does not constitute a waiver of any other <br />requirement embodied in the Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance, Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, or any other applicable local, state or federal law or regulation; <br />and <br />
