<br />. <br /> <br />controls. There shall be a separate room for sterilization, with a sharps container and a <br />sink, preferably with foot controls. Facilities for personal use shall be separate and <br />isolated from the business area in which body art is performed. Toilets and washing <br />facilities shall be maintained in a sanitary condition at all times. <br /> <br />(9) Tattoo suoolies. All inks, dyes, pigments, needles and equipment used in tattooing <br />shall be specifically manufactured for performing tattooing and shall be used in <br />accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The mixing of approved tattooing inks, <br />dyes or pigments or their dilutions with potable water shall be permitted. Immediately <br />before a tattoo is applied, the quantity of the dye to be used shall be transferred from the <br />dye bottle and placed into single-use paper or plastic cups. Upon completion of the <br />procedure, the cups and their contents shall be discarded in a proper manner and in <br />compliance with any applicable state or federal guidelines or requirements. <br /> <br />(10) Single-use items. Single-use items shall not be used on more than one client for any <br />reason. All materials for tattooing to be applied directly to the human skin shall be single <br />use articles or transferred from bulk containers to single use containers. After use, all <br />single-use needles, razors, and other sharps shall be immediately disposed of in <br />accordance with applicable regulations. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />(II) Cleaning and sterilization of non-disoosable instruments. Reusable instruments shall <br />be promptly soaked in a germicidal or soap solution after use, whenever practicable, to <br />prevent drying of contaminated material. All non-disposable instruments used in <br />connection with body art shall be sterilized before each use by rinsing, then scrubbing <br />with appropriate soap/disinfectant in hot water and then preferably placed in an ultrasonic <br />cleaner, prior to sterilization in a steam autoclave approved by the Health Department. <br />Sterilization shall be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, a <br />copy of which shall be submitted, with contact information, as part of the permit <br />application. Establishments shall have a back-up plan to be used in the event of <br />sterilization equipment failure. <br /> <br />(12) Sterilization documentation. The body art operator shall be responsible for <br />maintaining a log which indicates that the autoclave or other sterilizer has been checked <br />during each cycle and has been sterilized in accordance with the manufacturer's <br />instructions. It shall include monthly tests to demonstrate monthly spore destructions <br />tests, with satisfactory results. The log shall be maintained in a manner that is traceable <br />to the client on which the clean instrument is next used. <br /> <br />(13) Prooer storage and disoosal. All cleaned and ready-to-use needles and instruments <br />shall be stored in a protective manner to prevent subsequent contamination. Sterile <br /> <br />. <br />
