OROIHANC[ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A TAX REFUND TO BASF, THE CHEMICAL <br />COMPANY, RESULTING FROM THE OVER ASSESSMENT OF BUSINESS <br />PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 35-12 of the Portsmouth City Code and other applicable <br />authorities, the Commissioner of the Revenue has determined that BASF, the Chemical <br />Company, as successor to the Clariant Corporation, has been over assessed for certain business <br />personal property tax, in the amount of $137,072.47; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the Commissioner has certified that a refund in said amount is legally owed <br />to BASF, the Chemical Company; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the City shall refund to BASF, the Chemical Company, the sum of $137,072.47. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />November 23, 2004. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
