AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1951, BY <br />ADDING A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 26-1.1, TO VACATE A PORTION OF <br />COURT STREET, BETWEEN HIGH AND QUEEN STREETS. <br /> <br /> W}tEREAS, by a recent survey it appears that the buildings fronting on <br />the emst side of Court Street, between High and Queen Streets, encroach on the <br />sidewalk of Court Street as defined on the map prepared by B~scc~ Sykes, City <br />Engineer, to be used as proper lines in defining the centers and widths of streets; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears adviseable that the new building to be erected at <br />the nertheast corner of High and Court Streets be placed on a line with the other <br />buildings fronting on Court Street; now therefore: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, t~hat <br />the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1951, be amended by adding thereto <br />a new section to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 28-1.1. ~t portion of Court Street, between High and <br /> <br />Streets, lying between the east line of Court Street, as defined on the map of <br />the Sykes survey adopted under provisions of section 28-1 of this code, and a <br />line defined as beginning in the north line of High Street distant three inches <br />west of the northeast interse=tion of High and Court Streets and extending <br />northerly to the southeast intersection of Queen and Court Streets be and the <br />same is hereby vacated and closed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on February 25, 1958. <br /> <br /> <br />
