~NORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE C~SIFICATION OF EMPLOYMI~T ~ A <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the ~cil of t~ City of ~rts~uth, Virginia, that <br />~ction 1.Employees Classified~ <br /> <br /> On and after July 1, 1958, all employees of the City of Portsmouth <br />shall be closslfied according to the kind and type of work perforn~d by them~ and their <br />compensation shall be fixed according to such classification. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Rates of Compensation. <br /> <br /> The basic salary or compensation of each officer and ~mployeo until <br />otherwise changed by Ord~nance~ shall be according to the schedul~ of pay hereinafter <br />set forth, designated as Schedule B and made s part of this Ordinance. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Application to Present Officers and E~ployees. <br /> All officers and employees of the City shall receive the same ~pensa- <br /> <br />tton according to their classification as set forth in the Schedu] <br />Any officer and employee of the City who is at the effective date <br />ing less than the amount provided for in the schedule for his <br />on and after July 1, 1958~ receive tho amount set forth in the <br />is receiving more on the effective date of this Ordinance than <br />titled to X~coive under said schedule, shall continue st the same <br />service shal! entitle him to an increase in compensation. <br /> <br /> B of this Ordinance. <br /> this Ordinance recoiv- <br /> of employment, shall, <br /> Any employee who <br />amount he would be en - <br /> until his ~ars of~ <br /> <br /> Section 4.
