Section $o Change tc Lower ClaSSo <br /> <br /> Any employee holding a position which is chanted to a lower <br />classification and in which no demotion is intended, shall continue to receive the <br />same rate of pay, but he shall receive no increase in pay excep~ according to the new <br />elassificaticm. <br /> <br /> Section 9o Reinstated EmployeeSo <br /> <br /> Any person who is reinstated within one year after he has left <br />the employment of the City shall receive compensation according to the class in which <br />he is placed by the City Manager, not to exceed, however, the rate of pay he would re - <br />ceive had he not left the employment of the City. <br /> <br /> Section 10. Part Time Employees. <br /> <br /> Any person employed on a part time basis shall receive compen - <br />sation as prescribed by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Section 11. Overtime. <br /> <br /> Any employee whose rate of pay is fixed on a monthly basis, <br />shall not receive any compensation for extra or overtime work, except in cases of <br />emergency. Any extra compensation allowed by a Department Head must be in advance of <br />the performance of the work and with the approval of the City Manager; the same to be <br />entered by the Department Head on the next succeeding pay roll submitted to the City <br />Auditor. <br /> <br />Section 12. Salary Adjustments. <br /> <br /> Salary adjustments shall become effective on the first day <br />of the month following anniversary date of employment~ provided no employee shall re - <br />ceive more than one increase in compensation during any one ~ear of employment. <br /> <br /> Section 13. Allomances. <br /> <br /> The rates of pay set forth in Schedule B o~ this ordinance <br />shall he deemed to include the full compensation of the employee, and the value of any <br />allowances made to the employee by the City shall be considered as part of his compen- <br />sation. <br /> <br /> This ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the <br />l~blic health, morals and safety, an emergency Is declared to exist~ and it shell take <br />effect from and after its passage. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> <br />on July 22nd, 1958. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
