of way of The Virginian Railway Company's main line track, which point is two <br />thousand six hundred and twenty-three (2,62S) feet northeasterly from the <br />twelve (12) mile post of said railroad; thence in a northeasterly direction <br />along the northern right of way of said main line track approximately thirteen <br />thousand eight hundred and fifty-four (13,854) feet to a point in the center of <br />George Washington Highway, which is the point of beginning. <br /> <br />Section 1-19.2o Same - Cr~d~ck -~a~d'. <br /> <br /> The boundaries of the ~ra~lu~k Ward shall be as foilows: Beginning at the <br />southeastern corner of the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth, as same <br />existed prior to January l, 1960, where the center linc of Paradise Creek inter- <br />secgs the west pier-head linc of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River. as <br />established by the United Stages Army Corps of Engineers, and from thence running <br />southerly and easterly alone said pier-head line of the Southern Branch of the <br />Elizabeth River to the northerly right of way of The Virginian Railway Company's <br />main line track (now a part of The Norfolk and Western Railway Company); thence <br />westerly along the northerly right of way of said main line track to a point in <br />the center of George Washington Highway; thence in a northeasterly line along <br />the center line of George Washington Highway to a point therein which is in Para- <br />dise Creek and was the corporate limits of said City prior to January l, 1960; <br />thence in a southeasterly direction along said corporate limits as same existed <br />prior to January i, 1980, to the point of beginning~ <br /> <br />Section 1-19.3o Same - Hodges Ward° <br /> <br /> The boundaries of the Hodges Ward shall be as follows: Beginning ag a point <br />in the center kine of Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company's main line track at the <br />center of a box culvert under said track, said point beim~ distant nine hundred <br />and twenty-five (925) feet northeasterly from said railroad's six (~) mile post <br />and on the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth as same eXist on January l, <br />1960; thence northwesterly alone the center line of a natural drain known as <br />Mare's Creek, as it meanders across Route 58, ~o the center of the Western Branch <br />of the Elizabeth River; thence northwesterly, northerly and northeasterly along <br />the center line of said Western Branch as it meanders to a point one hundred (100) <br />feet southerly of the highway drawbridge crossing said river known as the Hedges <br />Ferry Bridge on State Highway Route No. 337; thence easte~ y to the east abutment <br />of said bridge; thence northerly alone the abutment of said bridge to the north <br />side of said bridge; thence northwesterly to a point in the center of the said <br />W~stern Branch one hundred (100) feet north of said Hodges Ferry Bridge; thence <br />northeasterly along the center of the said Western Branch as it meanders crossing <br />the Atlantic Coast Line Railrom/ to the intersecticm of the said Western Branch <br />with the center line of Sterling Creek projected into said river; thence due <br />east to the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth as same existed prior to <br />January 1, 19~0, and thence following the nmrthern, wesgern and southern corporate <br />limits of the City of Portsmouth as same existed prior to January 1, 1960~ go <br />the point of be~inningo <br /> <br />Section 1-20.
