AN ORDINANCE TO A~/END CHAPTER 1 OF ThE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTS1/(NJTH-, 1951, ~%S A~/ENDED, BY'Al/ENDING AND REORDAINING <br />SECTIONS 1-9, 1-20 AND 1-21 TPLF~REOF, AND BY ADDING THERETO <br />THREE NEON SECTIONS TO BE NLr~ERED 1-19.1, 1-19.2 AND 1-19.3, <br />TO PROVIDE FOR WARDS, VOTING PRECINCTS AND VOTING PLACES <br />WITHIN THE TERRITORY A~NEXED TO ~'~E CITY ON JANUARY 1, 1960~ <br /> <br /> Se it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />Chapter i of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1951, as amended, be amended <br />by amending and reordaining Sections 1-9, 1-20 and 1-21 thereof, and by adding <br />three new sections to be numbered 1-19ol, 1-19o2 and 1-19~3, to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1-9. Division of city into wards° <br /> <br />The city shall be divided into thirteen wards to be known as: <br /> <br />Jefferson Ward <br />Jackson Ward <br />Nadison Ward <br />Marshall Ward <br />Nonroe Ward <br />Lee Ward <br />Washington Ward <br />Harrison Ward <br />Tyler Ward <br />Wilson Ward <br />Stuart Ward <br />Cradock Ward <br />Hodges Ward <br /> <br />Section 1-19olo Same - Stuart Ward. <br /> <br /> The boundaries of the Stuart Ward shall be as follows: Beginning at a <br />point in the center line of George Washington Highway, which is on the northern <br />right of way line of the main line track of The Vi~inian Railway Company (now <br />k par~ of The Norfolk al/d Western Railway Company) and which is also on the <br />southern corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth as same exist on January l, <br />19SO; thence in a northeasterly direction alon~ the center line of George Washing- <br />ton Highway to a point therein which is in Paradise Creek and was the corporate <br />limits of said city prior to January 1, 1960; thence in a westerly direction <br />along said corporate limits as same existed prior ~o January 1, 1960, ~o a point <br />in the cente~ of the main line track of Seaboard Air Line R~ilroad Company; <br />thence in a southwesterly direction along the center llne of said main line track <br />to a point on the corporade limits of said city as same exist on January 1, 1960, <br />said point being in the center of a box culvert and being located nine hundred amd <br />twenty-five (925) feet northeasterly from said railroad company's six (6) mile <br />post; ~hence in a southeasterly direction alon~ the corporate limits of Said <br />city as same exist on January !~ 1960, to a point on the northern right <br /> <br /> <br />
