AN ORDINANCE TO ANEND AND RE-ORDAIN SECTION 24-7 OF Tt{E CODE OF THE CITY.OF PORTSMOUTH, t951, RAW~ATING TO CHARGES FOR SEWER CO~ECTIONS. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: Section 1: That Section 94-7 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1951, be amended and reordained ~o read as follows: Section 24-7 -- Char~es for Sewer Connections. When connection is made with the City sewer, the following charges shall be made to cover the expense of sewer connections from the main line to the curb, in the City. For four inch and six inch connections, the charge for single family residence shall be sixty dollars° For resi- dences for more than one living unit or multiple family apartments, the charge shall be for four inch and six inch connections, sixty dollars for the first living unit and thirty dollars for each additional living unit. For hotels~ motels, motor courts, and like structures, the charge shall be sixty dollars plus five dollars for each room equipped with plumbing fixtures, in the building or project° For dommercial buildings and industrial plants, the charge shall be sixty dollars for each sewer connection and five dollars for each wa~er closet installed. For connec- tions grea~er than six inches, or where the house or building is erected on a lot having a frontage of more than sixty feet, the charge shall he the actual cost plus twelve per cent, but not less than sixty dollars° When more than one connection is required for a premise or an existing connection is enlarged, a charge shall be made for each connection plus any additional cost incurred by the City° All charges shall be ~aid in advance. Section 2: This Ordinance shall be effective from and after 1980. Adopted by the Council of the City of PortSmouth on April ! ~, 1960.
