an employee shall receive the compensation set forth in the schedttle under <br />steps "E" and ~F" when he shall have completed 10 and 20 years, respectively, <br />of employment with the city. Upon promotion to a higher pay range, the em- <br />ployee will be placed in the low~s~ step which will afford him an increase <br />in pay, and thereaf~e~ he will be advanced annually to the next highest step <br />to which he is entitled. Any employee in steps "E" or "F" promoted ~o a higher <br />~ay range shall receive the pay as set forth in step "D" of that pay range for <br />one year, e~cept that sueh employee shall be placed in step "E" or "F" of the <br /> <br />range to which he was promoted if necessary to afford him an increase in pay. <br /> Section 5. Demotions. <br /> <br /> Any employee who is demoted to a lower range shall receive <br /> <br />compensation according to the range in which he is placed by the City ~anager. <br /> Section 6o Transfers° <br /> <br /> Any employee transferred co another class of employment in a <br />higher pay ~m~nge, shall be deemed to have been promoted and shall be entitled <br />to compensation as provided in Section 4 above, and any employee transferred <br />to another class of employment in a lower pay range, shall be deemed to have <br />been demoted, and shall be entitled to compensation as provided in Section 5 <br />above. <br /> <br /> Section 7. Reinstated Employees. <br /> <br /> Any person who is reinstated within one year after he has left <br />the employment of the City shall receive compensation according to the range <br />in which he is placed hy the City ~anager, not to exceed, however, the rate <br /> <br />of pay he would receive had he not left the employment of the City. <br /> Section g.
