an employee shall receive the compensation set forth in the schedule under <br />steps 4~ 7 and 10 upon commencement of his fourths seventh and tenth year <br />of employment~ respectively~ and then only upon recommendation of his <br />department head and approval thereof by the City Manager. Upon promotion <br />to a higher pay range, the employee will be placed in the lowest step which <br />will afford him an increase in pay. and thereafter he will be advanced <br />annually to the next highest step to which he is entitled. <br /> <br /> Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, no employee who <br />shall become etegible for advancement ~o step 7 or 10 between July 1. 1963~ <br />and June 30~ 1964. will be advanced to step 7 or 10~ as appropriate, until <br />July 1~ 1964. and then only u~on recommendation of his department head and <br /> <br />approval thereof by the City Manager. <br /> Section 5. Demotions. <br /> <br /> Any employee who is demoted to a lower range shall receive compen- <br /> <br /> sation according to the range in which he is placed by the City Manager. <br /> Section 6. Transfers. <br /> <br /> Any employee transferred to another class of employment in a higher <br /> pay range, shall be deemed to have been promoted and shall be entitled to <br /> compensation as provided in Section 4 above, and any employee transferred to <br /> another class of employment in a lower pay range, shall be deemed to have been <br /> <br /> demoted~ and shall be entitled to compensation as provided in Section $ above. <br /> Section 7. Reinstated Employees. <br /> <br /> Any person who is reinstated within one year after he has left the <br /> employment of the City shall receive compensation according to the range in <br /> which he is placed by the City ~nager, not to exceed, however, the rate of <br /> <br /> pay he would receive had he not left the employment of the City. <br /> Section 8.
