There is hereby created a board of electrical exm~iners, which shall consist of the building c fficiaI, a representative of the Portsmouth Division of the Virginia Electric and Power Company and three ether persons, who shall be certified master electricians, certified architects or certified professional engineers, the last four named members to be appointed by the council who shall serve for terms beginning on March 1, I964~ and expiring one, two, three~ and four years, respectively, from the date of appointment, the term of each such member to be designated by the council. ~ne successor of each member of the board shall be appointed for a term of four years. Any vacancy in the office of any appointive member shall be filled by appointment by the council for the remainder of the unexpired term. All of the members of the board shall serve as such without compensation. Sec. 9-37. Chairman mhd secretary. The board of electrical examiners shall elect its own chairmam and secreta~/. Sec. 9-38. Master Certificate required to engage in electrical contracting bmsiness. It shall be unlawful for any person or firm to engage in the business of electrical contracting unless the owner of said firm or someone in responsible charge of the work of said firm possess a ~as~er Electricimn Certificate. Sec. 9-39~ Employment of person, firm or corporation to do electrical work without certificate. It shall be unlawful for any owner, lessee or agent or any person having ~ny authority or duty in connection with any building or premises, to knowingly employ person, firm or corporation to do any el~ctrizal work in any such building or premises unless such person~ firm or corporation is certified as herein required as a Master Electrician. - S-
