There is hereby created a board of electrical <br />exm~iners, which shall consist of the building <br />c fficiaI, a representative of the Portsmouth Division <br />of the Virginia Electric and Power Company and three <br />ether persons, who shall be certified master electricians, <br />certified architects or certified professional engineers, <br />the last four named members to be appointed by the <br />council who shall serve for terms beginning on March 1, <br />I964~ and expiring one, two, three~ and four years, <br />respectively, from the date of appointment, the term <br />of each such member to be designated by the council. <br />~ne successor of each member of the board shall be <br />appointed for a term of four years. Any vacancy in the <br />office of any appointive member shall be filled by <br />appointment by the council for the remainder of the <br />unexpired term. All of the members of the board shall <br />serve as such without compensation. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-37. Chairman mhd secretary. <br /> <br /> The board of electrical examiners shall elect its <br />own chairmam and secreta~/. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-38. <br /> <br />Master Certificate required to engage in <br />electrical contracting bmsiness. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person or firm to <br />engage in the business of electrical contracting unless <br />the owner of said firm or someone in responsible charge <br />of the work of said firm possess a ~as~er Electricimn <br />Certificate. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-39~ <br /> <br />Employment of person, firm or corporation <br />to do electrical work without certificate. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any owner, lessee or agent <br />or any person having ~ny authority or duty in connection <br />with any building or premises, to knowingly employ <br />person, firm or corporation to do any el~ctrizal work <br />in any such building or premises unless such person~ <br />firm or corporation is certified as herein required as <br />a Master Electrician. <br /> <br />- S- <br /> <br /> <br />
