AN ORDINANCE TO A~D THE CODE OF %~HE CITY OF PORTSNOUTH, VIRGINIA, 196t~ BY ADDING THERETO T~ENTY NEW SECTIONS CREATING A BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS, PROVIDING FOR THE CO~POSITION THEREOF, ~{E APPOINTmeNT ~%ND TEP~ OF APPOIN~ftVE b~ERS, FILLING VACA~NCIBS, CO~ENSATION OF ME~ERS, AND ORG.~NIZATION AND I~ETINGS THEREOF; SETTING FORTH ITS POWERE AND DUTIES; REQUIRING ;~N EXA~INATION ;~ND LICENSE TO ENGAGE IN THE BUSINESS OF INSTALLING ELECTRICAL WORK; ESTABLISHING FEES THEREFOR; AND PROVIDING FOR RECIPROCITY WITH NEARBY CITIES. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: Section t. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be ~mended by adding thereto twenty new s~ctions to he numbered ~nd to read as follows: ARTICLE II. BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS. Sec. 9-35. Definitions. (a) The term "electrical work" as used in this ordinance shall be held to include and govern all work and materials used in installing, maintaining and/er extending a system of electrical wiring for light, heat or power and all appurtenances~ apparatus or equipment used in connection therewith~ inside of or attached to any building or st~acture, lot or premises. (b) The term "electricimn" as used in this · ordinance shall be held to mean a person who is engaged in the trade or business of electrical construction who is qualified under the terms and provisions of this ordinance. [c] The term "master electrician" as used in this ordinance shall be held to mean a person who possesses the necessary qualifications~ training ~d technical knowledge to plan, lay out and supervise the installation of electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment for light, heat or power, ~nd who is qualified under the provisions of this ordinance.
