AN ORDINANCE TO A~D THE CODE OF %~HE CITY OF PORTSNOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 196t~ BY ADDING THERETO T~ENTY NEW SECTIONS CREATING <br />A BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS, PROVIDING FOR THE CO~POSITION <br />THEREOF, ~{E APPOINTmeNT ~%ND TEP~ OF APPOIN~ftVE b~ERS, FILLING <br />VACA~NCIBS, CO~ENSATION OF ME~ERS, AND ORG.~NIZATION AND I~ETINGS <br />THEREOF; SETTING FORTH ITS POWERE AND DUTIES; REQUIRING ;~N <br />EXA~INATION ;~ND LICENSE TO ENGAGE IN THE BUSINESS OF INSTALLING <br />ELECTRICAL WORK; ESTABLISHING FEES THEREFOR; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />RECIPROCITY WITH NEARBY CITIES. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> Section t. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961, be ~mended by adding thereto twenty new s~ctions to he <br />numbered ~nd to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE II. BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-35. Definitions. <br /> <br /> (a) The term "electrical work" as used in this <br />ordinance shall be held to include and govern all work <br />and materials used in installing, maintaining and/er <br />extending a system of electrical wiring for light, <br />heat or power and all appurtenances~ apparatus or <br />equipment used in connection therewith~ inside of or <br />attached to any building or st~acture, lot or premises. <br /> <br /> (b) The term "electricimn" as used in this <br />· ordinance shall be held to mean a person who is engaged <br />in the trade or business of electrical construction <br />who is qualified under the terms and provisions of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br /> [c] The term "master electrician" as used in this <br />ordinance shall be held to mean a person who possesses <br />the necessary qualifications~ training ~d technical <br />knowledge to plan, lay out and supervise the installation <br />of electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment for light, <br />heat or power, ~nd who is qualified under the provisions <br />of this ordinance. <br /> <br /> <br />
