Such word. shall indicate that school children are present in the vicir~ity. Any signs erected under this section shall be placed not ,more than three hundred feet from the l~its of the sohoot preperty or cross- ing in the vicinity of the school, which is used by children goirg ~o and from the school; provided tha~ such crossings are not more than five hundred yards from the limits of the school proper~y and the city council approves the said crossiP~ for such signs. it shall be the duty of the principal or. chief ~d- ~uistrative officer of each school or some respon- sible person designated by the school board, pre- ferably nov a classroom teacher, ~o place such por- table signs in the highway ay a point no~ more taan three h~dred feet from the l~mi~s of the school proper~y and remove such signs when their presence is ac longer required by this subsectior~. Provided~ however~ that the city ~y, decrease the speed limi~ provided in this subsec- tion, ~nd provided f~rther that no such decrease in speed limit shall be effeetiv-e unless such decreased speed lid. it is conspicuously posted upon the portable signs~ tii~ over smgns, or fixed blin~ si~ re- quired by this subsection. (g) Twenty-fi~e miles per hour on high~.~ys in a business or residential district~ excep~ upon interstate or other iir~ited access highways with divided roadways.
