Sec. 18- 3.1. ame-Dxsregard~ng sxgn~ to stop sy <br /> police officers; penalties. <br /> <br /> .~ person ~,~ao having received a visible or audible <br />signal from any police officer to bring his motor vehi- <br />cle to a stop, shall operate such motor vehicle in a <br />wilful or wanton disregard of such signal so as to in- <br />terfere with or endanger the operation of the police <br />vehicle or endanger other property or person, or who <br />shall increase his speed and attempt to escape or elude <br />such police officer, shall 'be guilty of reckless driv- <br />ing, and, upon conviction thereof shall be punished by <br />a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more tha~ <br />one thousand dollars or by i~orisonment in jail for not <br />less than sixty days nor more than one year, or both <br />such fine and i~risonment. ~fnen any person shall be <br />convicted of reckless driving urger this section, then <br />in addition to the penalties provided herein, the oper- <br />ator's or chauffeur's license of such person rosy be <br />suspended by the court or judge for a period not to <br />exceed one year; provided, however, in any case where <br />the speed of the accused is determined to have exceed- <br />ed the maximum allowed by fifteen miles per hour where <br />the maximum speed if fifty-five miles per hour or great- <br />er, the operator's or chauffeur's license shall be sus- <br />penmed by the court or judge t~ing the case for a period <br />of not less than r~inety days. In case of conviction <br />and suspension the court or Oudge shall order the sur- <br />render of the license to the court where it shall be <br />disposed of in accordance ~rith the provisions of <br />~46.1-425. of the ~ode of VLrgi~ia. <br /> <br />Sec. 18-46. Maximum and m~inLm~m speed limits. <br /> <br /> '~ae m~ and minimum speed limits on highways <br />of this city shall be as hereinafter prescribed: <br /> <br /> (1) MaxLmum limits. <br /> (a) Sixty-five ~tes per hour on the Interstate <br />System of Highways or other 1Lmited access h~ways <br />with divided roadways~ if the vehicle is a passenger <br />movor ve~icie~ passenger bus, United State post office <br />bus, pick-up or panel truck no~ exceeding an ac~uat <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br /> <br />
